Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, wrote to Jose Ramos-Horta to congratulate him on his election as President of Timor-Leste and said, “A great responsibility now lies ahead of you once more and I trust that under your leadership the people of Timor-Leste will continue to enjoy peace, prosperity and progress. I particularly hope that you will be able to improve the lives of the less fortunate members of society.”

Washington, D.C — US Commission on International Religious Freedom released its 2022 annual report, on April 25, 2022, and said “In 2021, religious freedom conditions in China deteriorated. The government continued to vigorously implement its “sinicization of religion” policy and demand that religious groups and adherents support the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) rule and ideology.”

Washington D.C. — Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration, on a visit to the United States, raised Tibetan issues and asked for support to resolve the Sino-Tibetan conflict. He said, “The bipartisan US commitment and global leadership in supporting the Tibet cause is a source of great hope for Tibetans in Tibet and outside and will always be remembered.”
