Washington, D.C. — To mark the 61st Anniversary of the Complete Control of Tibet by the People's Republic of China, U.S Lawmaker Congressman Tom Suozzi, issued his March 10 message saying, "We must stand with Tibet! Sixty-one years later, Tibetans are still demanding independence and the freedom simply to be Tibetan - to live freely in their own country."

Washington, D.C. — To mark the 61st Anniversary of the Complete Control of Tibet by the People's Republic of China, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, released a statement saying "China’s cruel crackdown on the religious liberty, cultural heritage and freedom of speech of Tibetan men, women and children remains a challenge to the conscience of the world."

Dharamshala, India — To mark the 61st Anniversary of the complete control of Tibet by the People's Republic of China, Czech Republic lawmaker Frantisek Kopriva, issued his March 10 message saying, "I reminded the similar fate of the Czech Republic, which also experienced the occupation and together we will continue to defend fundamental human rights and justice around the world!."

Washington, D.C. – Freedom House lists Tibet as the second least free country in the world after Syria for the 5th consecutive years. The Freedom watchdog says the Communist-authoritarian regime's pressure on civil liberties intensified over the past year when censorship and surveillance reached “new extremes”.
