Dharamshala: A Tibetan man accused of leading a protest against the Chinese government has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Dharamshala: The friend of a Tibetan self-immolator is believed to have been arrested. Radio Free Asia reported that Pema Tsewang, a friend of Lhamo Kyab, who died after setting himself alight near Bora monastery in Sangchu county, Amdho, on October 20, was arrested hours after the incident took place.

Dharamshala: Lhase Sonam, an exiled Tibetan based in Switzerland, reported that in spite of repeated attempts by his family to track him down, no news of Jampa Wangchuk's whereabouts has been reported since he was handed his sentence and stripped of his political rights at the Lhasa Intermediate People's Court in June.

Dharamshala: A Canadian journalist was able to gain rare access to Tibet after the spate of self-immolations led to heightened security to deter further protests and news reporting.

Dharamshala: - On December 3, Chinese authorities in the Amchuk area, Ahmdo region arrived at Bhora monastery and demanded that five monks, Genden Gyatso, Lobsang Pakpa, Jamyang Zopa, Jamyang Lodhu, and Jamyang Gyatso be handed over for immediate investigation.

Dharamshala: - On November 2 Chinese authorities announced a new policy that rewards anyone who discloses information about self-immolations. The document was issued by the Malho People’s Intermediate Court and the Public Security Bureau and applies to the Malho region areas of Rebkong, Tsekhog, and Chentsa.
