Dharamshala: Kesang Tenzin Bhutia, serving as the Principal of CST Kalimpong, passed away on January 13, 2014. He was 58. Born on May 5, 1955 in Sakya, Tibet, KesangTenzin Bhutia did his primary schooling from CST Darjeeling and later joined Dr. Graham's Homes, Kalimpong from where he completed his class XII.

According to CTA, he joined St. Stephen's College, Delhi University in 1972 and obtained his BA and MA degrees in History. Later he also did his B.Ed from Government College of Education, Punjab University, Chandigarh. He started his career in 1982 as a Post Graduate Teacher in History at Tashi Namgyal Academy, Gangtok, Sikkim where he served until 1985. From 1986 to 1992, he served his alma mater, Dr. Graham's Homes as a History teacher.

He joined Central Tibetan Schools Administration in August 1992 and served as a Principal in CST Mundgod, CST Kalimpong, CST Darjeeling and CST Mussoorie. For his tireless dedication and outstanding contribution towards the education of children, he was honored with the National Award to Teachers for the year 2010.

He is survived by his wife Mrs Chungla, and three children Mr. Jigme Dorjee, Dr. Sonam Gyatso and Ms.Tenzin Zompa. The Department of Education, CTA expresses its deep sadness and condolences at the passing of Kesang Tenzin Bhutia.

Victoria: – The first Tibetans to settle in Calgary city, province of Alberta, Canada, under Canada's Tibetan resettlement program will arrive on Saturday, January 18. They will be greeted at the airport by sponsors and Tibet supporters.

They are part of a Government of Canada public policy that is facilitating the immigration of up to 1,000 displaced Tibetans living in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. This policy followed a 2007 appeal by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Project Tibet Society, who is facilitating the national resettlement effort, is working with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society and the Tibetan Association of Alberta in the local resettlement effort.

Dharamshala: - The Election Commission of the Central Tibetan Administration has announced the dates of the mid-term poll for one Dho-May Chithue (Member of Tibetan Parliament from Dho-May constituency).

According to the announcement, the preliminary election will be held on 17 February 2014. The final election will be held on 09 June 2014.

The mid-term poll is necessitated by the resignation of Kirti Dolkar Lhamo, a member of Tibetan Parliament from Do-Mey constituency.

Dharamshala: - Kirti Dolkar Lhamo resigned as a member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile after serving as an member of parliament since 1991.

"In her resignation letter submitted to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament, she has cited personal reasons for resigning from her role as a member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile," the Tibetan Parliamentary secretariat said.

"She has further expressed her best wishes to the Tibetan Parliament in their future endeavours, urging them to continue their hard work and dedication to resolve the issue of Tibet for the reunification of Tibetans inside and outside Tibet," it said.

According to CTA, Dolkar Lhamo is a member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Dhomay Region. She was first elected to the Tibetan Parliament in 1991. Since then, she was elected as a member of the Tibetan Parliament in five consecutive elections, serving more than 20 years in the Tibetan Parliament.

Brussels: - Henri Malosse, EES President, received Dicki Chhoyang, Kalon or minister of the Central Tibetan Administration, on 26 November 2013.

Both expressed their deep concerns on violations of Human rights in the Tibet region.

They stressed the necessity of reopening the Dialogue between the Chinese government and the Tibetan people, represented by the Central Tibetan Administration.

They also appealed for the real support of the European institutions in this conflict that has lasted too long.

Ms Chhoyang also met with EESC members Anne-Marie Sigmund, Béatrice Ouin and Thomas Janson.
