Dharamshala: The Dharamshala Film Festival, the first of its kind to be organized in Mcleodganj, kicked off yesterday with a collection of splendid, thought provoking films. The films are being screened at the 500-seat auditiorium of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts on TIPA Road in Mcleod Ganj.

Dharamsala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Mcleodganj around 10.45 am on the morning of 28^th May and the Union of Organizations and Associations held a welcoming ceremony to the honour his reception of the Templeton prize.

Dharamshala, 24, May: Today the 6th general meeting of the National Democratic party of Tibet started in the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) hall, McLeod Ganj. The conference, which will be for the duration of three days, began today with invited guests: Kiti Rinpoche Lobsang Tenzin and also attending was a representative from the president of TYC; Penpa Tsering. Also attending were representatives of other concerned NGO's and members of both centre and regional sections of the NDPT. In total approximately fifty people attended the opening ceremony.

Dharamshala, May 24^th: Speaking at a public event commemorating the re-creation of  His holiness the  13^th Dalai Lama's Tibetan proclamation of Independence in 1913,Tenzin Dorjee, Executive director of Students for a Free Tibet, emphasized Tibetan people's practical actions against Chinese rule by methods of civil disobedience and noncooperation and suggested that although China may control Tibet's borders it no longer can control the people's actions. In his speech he also reiterated the main theme of the evening's event "We hope this scroll will give Tibetans everywhere a reason to celebrate our history as an independent nation,"

Dharamsala: Today, the 23rd of May 2012, marks 61 years of Chinese occupation of Tibet. Since 2008, Wednesday is also the day of Lakhar Movement- a home grown cultural resistance movement which seeks to preserve Tibetan culture and heritage through personal pledges. On this account, the Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) organized a march in which the Tibetans in and around Mcleodganj demonstrated sporting ethnic Tibetan wear and carrying Tibetan flags.

Dharamshala, May 23: Kalon Tripa, Dr Lobsang Sangay, has visited the Tibetan settlements of Tso Pema, Bir, Tashi Jong, and Chauntra in the Mandi district Jurisdiction as part of his official tour as acting Prime Minister in recent days.
