Welcoming Ceremony Held For His Holiness At Dharamsala

27may2012006Dharamsala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Mcleodganj around 10.45 am on the morning of 28th May and the Union of Organizations and Associations held a welcoming ceremony to the honour his reception of the Templeton prize.

A few thousand people including Tibetan parliament members, members of The Union of Associations and Organizations, monks, nuns, local Tibetans, Indians, the advisor of the Indo-Tibet Friendship Association, Ram Swaroop and the secretaryBharat Tibet SahyogManch, Sunil Manocha, all met him this morning at the Tsuglagkhang Temple.

At the beginning of the ceremony, they garlanded the Dalai Lama's seat. After that, the Director of The Union of Associations and Organizations and former parliament member, YuntenGyatso, gave a speech about the reason behind organizing the ceremony and the Templeton prize. He mentioned that in all their years of exile, the Dalai Lama has so far received over 130 awards from all over the world.

Ram Swaroop, the advisor of the Indian Tibet relationships then talked of The Templeton prize and said that it meant a lot to India especially Himachal Pradesh, which has served as his Holiness' home in exile for the last five decades. He also spoke in praise of His Holiness and his various efforts for the freedom of Tibet.Sunil Manocha, of the Bharat Tibet SahyogManch, then said, "It is a matter of good luck for the people of Dharamsala and Himachal Pradesh to sit here and receive the blessings of His Holiness."

On June 1st and 2nd, His Holiness will give a teaching in TCV School and these teachings will be available on www.dalailama.com as a live webcast.
