BELGIUM, 16th July 2011 - The Chinese authorities of Nangchen county of eastern Tibet had organized festivities and games for July 1, in which virtually no-one participated. On 12 July, to punish the rebellious monks, they imposed a course of "legal education" and immediately arrested the men, who refused to take part.

Dharamshala: A briefing paper of the protests in Karze Region, Eastern Tibet (Karze Tibet Autonomous Prefecture) has been released by Tibet.net. Dharamshala- Chinese officials have declared over 1200 members of Tibet's Kirti Monastery to be expelled. In a huge breach of international human rights, Chinese officials are forcibly controlling the sacred Buddhist institution of over 5000 monks, have declared that over a fifth must leave, or face the consequences.

Dharamshala: - The holy Buddhist month of Saga Dawa saw a series of protests in Kardze (Ch: Ganzi) in Eastern Tibet. Atleast 39 known Tibetans have been arrested in June 2011 for staging demonstrations calling for a "Free Tibet", "Long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama" and "Return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet". Situation in the area is very tense and people live in a climate of fear. In the wake of protests, security troops in thousands have been deployed in the area to instantly crush any sort of a popular protest. A foreign tourist who recently visited Kardze gave following account of the situation in the area.

Dharamshala- Tibetans peacefully protesting in Eastern Tibet continue their call for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and for freedom in Tibet, despite arrests and beatings by police. Raids have also occurred in the Eastern town of Karze, amid a month of heavy crackdowns in the region. On the 19th June, two nuns belonging to ‘Nyimo Getsul Nunnery' peacefully demanded the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and for freedom in Tibet on the streets of Karze.
