“Solidarity with Tibet” campaign concludes with a Public Rally in Bangalore

tibet-bangalore-2013Bangalore: - Following series of Tibet-lobby meetings with the local political leaders, receptions at Party Headquarter, banquet interactions with eminent personalities and leaders and Talk at College, the 'Solidarity with Tibet' Campaign in the Bangalore city concluded with a huge Public Rally at the Freedom Park and a Candle Light March to the M G Road on the 5th evening.

Hundreds of Tibetans and local Indians including political leaders, Tibet-supporters and students joined the Public Rally. Mrs. Shobha Karandlage, Minister of Energy, Karnataka Government, Mr. Dinesh Gunda Rao, member of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Surender Rappa and GKC Reddy, President and General Secretary of Karnataka Janta Dal (United), Mr. Sanjeev Ningombam, Convenor, ABVP/WOSY, Mr. J B Urs, South Zone Convenor, Prof. Dr. Khalid of St Joseph College, Ms. Rashi Jauri of SFT Bangalore attended the Rally. Besides the Tibetan MPs, former MP Kirti Tashi, Mr. Karma Sangey, Chief Representative, Mr. Tashi Wangdue (CEO) and Mr. Pema Delek (President) of Federation of Tibetan Cooperative Society, Mr. Ngawang Lodoe, President of TFM and the Presidents of RTYC and SFT attended the Rally.

In a series of address, Honorable minister Mrs Shobha Karandlage while lauding the Tibetan peoples' undying spirit encouraged the Tibetans to remain unperturbed despite the growing Chinese might. "Tibetans should also try to take the fight in the Indian Parliament and seek India's political support. I will certainly ask my colleagues to raise the issue of Tibet", assured Mrs. Shobha. Other Indian speakers including Mr. Dinesh too expressed their solidarity with the Tibetan issue and pledge that Indians will never forsake the cause of Tibetans.

Earlier on, the Tibetan MPs Ven. Atruk Tseten and Mr. Lobsang Yeshi delivered the opening remarks and Mrs Bumo Tsering read out the message of solidarity extended by numerous political leaders including Honorable Law Minister Mr. Suresh Kumar who couldn't make it for the Rally.

A day earlier, the delegation was accorded a warm reception at the Congress Party Headquarter by the Party leaders including the former minister and Vice President, KPCC Shri A. Krishnappa, MLA and Vice President, KPCC Honorable Sri V Muniyappa, Former Minister and Vice President, KPCC Mr. J Alexander, Former minister and Vice President, Smt Rani Satish and various other MLAs and MLCs of the Congress Party. A leaders exchanges views on the current crisis in Tibet and extended their solidarity and support for the Tibetan cause.

Later the delegates met with the Mr. Suresh Kumar, Honorable Minister of Urban Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs at the Vidhan Soudha and apprised him of the Tibetan issue.

In the evening, Mr. Lobsang Yeshi, the Tibetan MP addressed the students of St Joseph College on the issue of Tibet and the ongoing Solidarity Campaign by the Tibetan Parliament. This was followed by a banquet interaction with numerous Indian political leaders including Mr. Ramachandra Gowda, former minister and MLC, Mr. Narender Babu, MLA, City Corporates Dr. Shivaprasad and G Manjunathan, ITFS executives Niranjan and Shivanand, Senior Journalist Hemanth Kumar and BKN Sathyanarayan.

The 'Solidarity with Tibet' Campaign in the Bangalore city was led by the South Zone Tibetan Parliamentarian delegates consisting of Mr. Gyari Bhutuk, Ven Adruk Tseten, Mr. Jigme Jungney, Ms. Bumo Tsering, Ms. Tsering Youdon and Mr. Lobsang Yeshi. The delegates sincerely thank Mr. Karma Singye, Chief Representative, Mr. Chomphel Thupten, Ms. Tsering Yangkyi and Ms. Sither Mingyur of the Office of Chief Representative, Bangalore for the untiring assistance in the coordination of the campaign in the Bangalore city.
