World leaders tweet their best wishes to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 86th birthday

Dharamsala, India — On the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 86th birthday, social media was filled with birthday greetings. World leaders and members of parliament have taken to Twitter to praise his outstanding achievements and notable accomplishments for the Tibetan people and world peace.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Twitter that he has called the spiritual leader to express his greetings. "Spoke on phone to His Holiness the @DalaiLama to convey greetings on his 86th birthday. We wish him a long and healthy life," The Prime Minister wrote on his official Twitter account.

“Happy Birthday, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the bodhisattva of infinite compassion, patron saint of Tibet and epitome of highest human aspirations. May Your Holiness continue to enjoy exuberant health and live for eons and eons to guide all beings to happiness, wisdom, and dignity,” tweeted Sikyong Penpa Tsering, with the highest praise for His Holiness.

"Wishing His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama a very happy 86th birthday, from H.E. Ling Rinpoche and everyone at Yongzin Lingstang Labrang! May His Holiness live long and may all of His holy wishes and prayers be swiftly and perfectly fulfilled!," posted by the Twitter and Instagram accounts of His Eminence the Seventh Ling Rinpoche.

Several other members of the Indian cabinet conveyed their good wishes and praised His Holiness.

“On behalf of all my fellow Indians, wishing His Holiness the 14th @DalaiLama on his 86th birthday. We consider ourselves fortunate to be inculcating your values in our Delhi government school students through the medium of Happiness Curriculum,” Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal expressed.

“On the joyous occasion of His Holiness the 14th #DalaiLama’s birthday, my warmest wishes to the apostle of peace, beacon of hope & light to the world. I pray with the deepest reverence for your excellent health & long life. May we all continue to be blessed by your love & affection,” Shri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh wrote on Twitter.

‘Greetings and best wishes to Buddhist religious leader respected His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama ji on his birthday. May you live healthy and long, and keep working like this for the service of humanity,’ tweeted Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

“Birthday greetings to the Spiritual leader, 14th @DalaiLama of Tibet. May you be blessed with good health and long life,” wished Cabinet Minister of Road and Transport, Nitin Gadkari.

“Warm birthday wishes to His Holiness @DalaiLama. May you be blessed with long and healthy life, spreading love, compassion, and goodwill around the world,’ tweeted Shri Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha.

Wishes also rolled in from people around the world.

"Wishing a very happy 86th birthday to His Holiness the @DalaiLama.Thank you for teaching us the importance of coming together to help one another through this pandemic," Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen tweeted.

Massachusetts leaders, including members of the United States Congress, sent warm messages to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A video of greetings was arranged and presented by the Tibetan Association of Boston and the Regional Tibetan Association of Massachusetts.

“People around the world, across countries and cultures respect and revere His Holiness. His message speaks to all of us because he speaks of universal values and universal truths. For the individual, he is the source of spiritual inspiration and inter-harmony. For the global society he is the voice of wisdom and peace,” stated United States Representative, Jim McGovern.

“His holiness has displayed the values of peace and compassion and empathy throughout his career. I thank His Holiness for promoting the values of freedom and human rights for the people of Tibet,” expressed United States Senator, Ed Markey.

In a 4-minute long video message posted on all his social media account, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his deep appreciation for all his friends who have shown him love, respect, and trust and assured the people that he will be always committed to his work.
