TWA anniversary in DelhiNew Delhi — The regional Tibetan Women's Association in Delhi celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the organization’s re-establishment in exile on September 10, 2017 in front of the main monastery in Majnu ka Tila, the Tibetan colony in Delhi.

The event was attended by the Secretary of Samyeling as chief guest, along with other leaders of different associations in Delhi, and over a hundred Tibetans and supporters.

President of the Tibetan Women Association in Delhi, Tashi Lhamo, recited the Tibetan Women Association's official statement on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the re-establishment in exile and also addressed the association's aims and demands.

"On 12th March 1959, in the aftermath of the March 10 National Uprising, thousands of Tibetan Women from all three provinces of Tibet stood up against the Chinese forces, thereby triggering a peaceful resistance that continues to this day. Both these days, 10th and 12th of March, are politically very close to the hearts of the Tibetan people, because we lost thousands of brave Tibetan women and men to the Chinese armed forces during the uprising," the statement said.

"While we celebrate the 33rd year of TWA’s re-establishment and our success during these years, we look back to the great sacrifices made by those brave women who stood and fought against the ruthless Chinese armed forces during the uprising of Tibetan Women on March 12, 1959. This shows that Tibetan women played a very important role in the Tibetan Freedom struggle against the communist Chinese armed forces.

"Since then, years rolled by while in exile. But the memory of the sacrifices made by those brave and selfless women cannot be erased from our minds. As the representatives of Tibetan women inside and outside Tibet, we, the Tibetan Women’s Association will never give up our fight for the cause of Tibet and Tibetan people."

"In exile India,Tibetan Women’s Association was re-establishment primary as a political organization on 10th September 1984, but over the last few decades, it was realized that a women's organization carried an imperative of catering to the needs of women... Tibetan Women’s Association is actively involved in collaborating and various local and International NGOs, student groups as well as International Women’s Organizations."

"On the occasion of the 33rd Anniversary of TWA in exile, we once again draw the attention of the world leaders and Tibet groups all over the world to join hands together in support of issues related to human rights and Tibet’s endangered environment”.
