Dharamshala — Members of the 15th Kashag, or cabinet members, of the Tibetan government-in-exile led by democratically elected Prime Minister Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay are preparing for an all-India trip to communicate new policies and reinforce Tibetan unity.
The cabinet is planning to conduct community engagements in their Five-Fifty strategy, described as a way “To communicate outlined initiatives and sustainability programs based on the five-fifty strategy of the 15th Kashag. Key program areas include: an integrated Settlement Development through community participatory process; establishing of a banking-like institution; Organizational Developmental Analysis; leadership development programs including institutional capacity building.
“The programs will focus on maximizing equal participation of both men and women in ownership of the development process.”
Other plans and policies they are planning to address and implement include the Middle Way Policy, their annual budget, loan allotment for Tibetan sweater sellers, agricultural and commercial practices in Tibetan settlements, women empowerment, and recent electoral reforms.
They plan to inform public on these core programs set from the grant of USD 23 Million awarded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to strengthen self-reliance and resilience of Tibetan communities in South Asia.
Finally, the trip is an effort to mobilize collective efforts in observing CTA’s year of campaign and year of gratitude in 2018.
The Kashag’s trip will span until the end of May, with members traveling to Tibetan settlement areas all across India.
