New Delhi — Police has detained Tibetan youth activists while trying to stage a protest organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress in front of the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi, the capital of India.
Over 150 TYC activists including VP Tamdin Hrichoe have been detained taken to the Mandir Marg Police Station after protesting China's illegal occupation of Tibet.
"Vice President Tamdin Sichoe of Tibetan Youth Congress along with many regional working committee members were arrested," Tenzin Jigme, President of TYC told media.

"On this day, Tibetan people across the globe are commemorating the anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day," read a statement by the TYC.
"Today is a day we not only commemorate the sacrifices od oue patriotic brothers and sisters who stood up against injustices and fought China's invasion but also a day for all of us in exile to reaffirm our solemn pledge and unwavering commitmment to carry forth our fight bearing in mind never to forget who we are and where we came from. And So, today, we must express a firm sesolve to be unrelenting in our determination to never cease our struggle for Independence of Tibet."
"On this occasion, the TYC would like to the take the opportunity to offer our deepest homage to the patriotic Tibetan men and women who have sacrificed their lives to restore Tibet's national sovereignty," it added.
The statement said that the congress also wanted to pay its respects to the surviving family members and their relatives, as well as the "brave Tibetans who continue to resist Chinese occupation."
While some of the attendees were clad in traditional clothing, most of the youths could be seen wearing Western-style T-shirts and jeans, although many were also draped in Tibetan flags.
A large number of the young men and women had their cheeks or foreheads painted with the colors of their flag _ which is banned in China _ and slogans such as "Save Tibet" and "Free Tibet."
The TYC's statement said that "since the forceful invasion of Tibet in 1949, Tibetans from all walks of life have fought relentlessly and launched a massive resistance movement culminating in the uprising of March 10, 1959."
It highlighted three "famous" slogans used by activists to this day: "May His Holiness the Dalai Lama live for 10,000 years!" "Tibet is an independent country!" and "Chinese quit Tibet!"
The congress accused China of making every effort to "obliterate the Tibetan people, its history, culture and language," as well as using soft power to oppress the Tibetan people and impose "harsh repressive policies that violate every fundamental right enshrined in the United Nations' documents."
Tens of thousands of Tibetans and supporters participated 58th Tibetan National Uprising Day commemorated across the world, include Dharamshala, India. People raised their voice to call "China get out of Tibet" and "free Tibet."
Organised by the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, a formal function to commemorate the 10th March in Delhi was also held at Jantar Mantar where India Tibet support group members and MPs joined former Tibetan minister Dolma Gyari. The event was followed by pray and pay "tribute to those brave men and women who have lost their lives for the cause of Tibet."
Tibetans holding the multi-coloured snowlion flags of Tibet enlivened the area chanted slogans against China and asking the UNO to wake up and calling "Freedom for Tibet", "Stop genocide in Tibet", "Tibet for Tibetans", "long Live Dalai Lama" and "China out of Tibet now."

Tibet was invaded by Communist China, starting in 1949, Beijing calls a "peaceful liberation". Since that time, over 1.2 million out of 6 Tibetans have been killed, over 6000 monasteries have been destroyed— the acts of murder, rape and arbitrary imprisonment, torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment were inflicted on the Tibetans inside Tibet. But, authorities in China still claim that "China 'peacefully liberated' Tibet, and that the Tibetans are living in a "Maoist socialist paradise."
