Dharamshala: - Candlelight vigil and rally held on Wednesday at the main square of Mcleod Ganj, H.P., India, for the five Tibetans who were recently killed by Chinese police in Sershul County, eastern Tibet.
Over 70 Tibetans and supporters observed the candlelight vigil and offered their prayers in solidarity with the five Tibetans, who were killed by Chinese police in a detention center in Sershul County, eastern Tibet.
The event was organised by the Gu-Chu-Sum Movement of Tibet - the Tibetan ex-political prisoners' association in Dharamshala.
Wangdak, 45, was secretly taken away from his home by Chinese police at night 12 a.m., August 11, 2014. The next day, over hundred Tibetan residents gathered outside the detention to protest and call for his release.
'Two protesters had previously died at the detention center on Sunday, Lo Palsang committing suicide in protest against unfair persecution of Chinese authorities and a 22 year old dying of untreated gun wounds,' the group said.
Sources confirmed that three more detainees; Tsewang Gonpo, 60, Yeshe, 42 and Jinpa Tharchin; 18, were died without receiving a proper medical treatment. The date of their death remained unknown but their bodies have been returned their families on 18 Aug, 2014.
Protesters holding banners and portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama urged the United Nations, especially UN Human Right Council and the truth and peace-loving people across the world to speak out against Chinese opression in Tibet; demanding justice for the Tibetans, who were intentionally shot by Chinese police office.
The event sought to express solidarity with the Tibetans in Sershul county and called on the Chinese government to stop every form of discrimination against Tibetans in Sershul Country; immediately ease the crackdown, unconditional release of the nonviolence protesters, including Wangdak and to ensure a proper medical treatment to those who are severely injured.
