Tibet-Uma-LingDharamshala: - Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today opened a new BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) venture of Uma Ling Technical Solutions in Dharamshala as part of the Kashag's efforts to create employment for the Tibetan youths.

According to the Central Tibetan Administration, Dr Sangay spoke about the importance of empowering young Tibetan people through the new initiative and on how to integrate problems solving and and sustained learning.

"After a lot of discussions and deliberations, Uma Ling Technical Solutions has finally come into existence. Uma Ling is a pioneer enterprise set up in partnership with Indian owners and Tibetan workforce. Hopefully, this is just a beginning of many projects and centres to come in the future," said Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay at the opening ceremony.

"We aim to create not just employment but also empower our youths through these enterprises. We will also replicate such initiatives across all the Tibetan settlements in India in the future to create a robust Tibetan labour force," Sikyong said.

Speaking to the Tibetan employees later, Sikyong Dr Sangay said the new BPO venture will prosper only if you put your effort into it. "This is a business enterprise and profitability is one of the major factors determining the survival of this initiative," he said.

The project is facilitated by the Central Tibetan Administration and Welfare Society. Uma Ling Technical Solutions provides training for Tibetan youth to work in different processes in the dynamic IT sector, while at the same time allowing them to gain the experience of working within a corporate structure.

"It offers outsourcing solutions to businesses in India and abroad. Currently, it offers voice process and web mining services. Other services in the pipeline include services in the areas of medical transcription and graphics," the report said.
