Dharamshala — To mark the 58th anniversary of the Tibetan national uprising day in Dharamshala, India on Friday, March 10, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay calls on "the Chinese government to end the discriminatory policies, issue travel documents to Tibetans and respect their freedom of movement both within and outside of Tibet."

Dharamshala — The political leader of Tibetan people Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay met with the President of South Tyroll, an autonomous region of northern Italy Dr Arno Kompatscher, Thursday, at Gangchen Kyishong, the headquarter of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), marking the second time since Dr Sangay took office.

Geneva — During the current 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, expressed concern over "restrictions on cultural and religious rights" in Tibet, and committed to pursue an “effective dialogue on important human rights issues.”

Dharamshala — A gallery in Macau has cancelled an event and opening by a Tibetan painter after authorities in Beijing threatened to arrest and deport him if he tried to enter the Chinese-administered region, according to the artist.

Dharamshala — Popular American talk show host and political satirist, John Oliver, aired his interview with His Holiness the Dalai Lama last week and highlighted Tibet, saying, “the whole territory is a gross human rights violation.”

Tibet remains the second least free place in the world according to an annual survey by Freedom House, the American human rights and democracy organization, The report assesses political freedom in countries and territories across the world and gave an assessment of the dismal state of political rights and civil liberties in occupied Tibet.
