Dharamshala, India – His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, has congratulated Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on his swearing-in as the 15th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. His Holiness said, "I wish you every success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Sunday wrote to Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu from Dharamshala to congratulate him on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, India, on December 11, 2022, following his party's success in the recent state assembly elections.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote, “India has been my home for more than 62 years now, and I have been happy to reside most of that time here in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Consequently, I often refer to the Chief Minister as ‘our Chief Minister’. I deeply appreciate the friendship and hospitality that the people from all walks of life in Himachal Pradesh have shown me and my fellow Tibetans all these years."

“Like other places in the state, Dharamsala has grown and developed tremendously since I first arrived in McLeod Ganj in May 1960" the spiritual leader of Tibet said.

“I am confident that the people of Himachal Pradesh will continue to prosper, especially the less privileged members of the society. I wish you every success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state,” His Holiness concluded.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday also congratulated Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu after he took oath as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on December 11, 2022, "Congratulations to Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Ji on taking oath as Himachal Pradesh CM. I assure all possible cooperation from the Centre to further the development of Himachal Pradesh."

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, 58, is a politician of the Indian National Congress. He is the current Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, serving since 2022. He is a four-time member of the Legislative Assembly from the Nadaun assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh, India.
