Rome — "We are in the 21st century, where human beings are born free, and they have the right to think, act and express themselves freely. And in this 21st century, there is no room for authoritarianism," said Penpa Tsering, Sikyong(President) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), while he speaking at a conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) on October 29, 2021.

On Friday, October 29, 2021, around 200 global parliamentarians, diplomats and experts gathered in Rome at the conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) to hold a counter-meeting ahead of the G-20 leaders' summit to demand a tougher stance against the Chinese government.

Penpa Tsering, President of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) attended the conference and said "We are in the 21st century, where human beings are born free, and they have the right to think, act and express themselves freely. And in this 21st century, there is no room for authoritarianism."

“For the G20 members of the democratic countries, it is not enough to have freedom in your own countries since the entire world is an interdependent community of human beings. It is paramount that you ensure the values you cherish in your countries be available to those ruled by authoritarian ones like the Chinese government,” Sikyong added.

"Tibet is known as the third pole because of its large water reserves and China should be more transparent about what it is doing in Tibet, in term of environment, climate change,” he said.

“China does not live up to its words, they always talk about a harmonious society, but what they are doing on the Indian border, in the South China Sea and on Taiwan is unacceptable and if they want to be a global leader, China should stop all these actions. China has political power, military power and economic power, but China has no moral power and it is time for China to change if they want to be a responsible leader," CTA President said.
