Tibetan leaders congratulate Leader Pelosi on her re-election

Pelosi-Dalai-Lama-555x370Dharamshala — Elected Tibetan officials congratulated former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her re-election as the US House of Representatives' Democratic Leader. Leader Pelosi has long been a supporter of Tibetans.

In a congratulatory note from the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok said, “The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile would like to congratulate you on being re-elected as the Leader of Democratic in the House of Representative.”

“We are very grateful for your consistent support for the just cause of Tibet and for your long term friendship with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We also appreciate your leadership’s landmark visit to Tibet unveiling the ground reality inside Tibet for the free world and your visit to Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamshala.”

Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay also congratulated the re-elected leader saying, “I, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration heartily congratulate you on being re-elected as the Democratic leader in the US House of Representatives.”

“Your re-election to the crucial post of democratic leader is a reflection of your leadership, integrity and the sharp relevance of your voice as a champion of American ideals. The Tibetan people remain indebted to you for your consistent efforts to steer the conscience of the world by raising your voice and lending your pivotal support to the cause of Tibet.”

Ms Nancy Pelosi, a staunch supporter of the Tibet cause and a fierce advocate of peace and non-violence, was re-elected as the leader of the Democratic Party in the US House of representatives on December 1st with 134 votes.

With this re-election, she continues her 14-year leadership of the Democrats in the lower chamber of the US Congress.
