Dharamshala — November 2nd convenes the 5th All India Tibet Support Groups conference which will be held in Guwahati, Assam in order to address the critical situation inside Tibet and celebrate the 80th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

180 representatives from various Tibet support groups across India will take part in the event to to deliberate, discuss and strategize on strengthening the Tibetan movement and Tibet Support Groups in India for the peaceful solution of the issue of Tibet.

Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, democratically elected political head of Central Tibetan Administration is attending the event as chief guest and will give the inaugural address on November 2nd.

This year's conference will highlight the implications of Chinese occupation on the environment, both within Tibet and greater Asia, as Chinese exploitation of Tibetan natural resources and environmental destruction has caused a serious threat to the ecological stability of the region, and most concerningly the drinking water of more than 3 billion people in South Asia.

Additionally the conference will highlight the significance of preserving Tibet's history and Culture within India and express gratitude towards His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for his vision, leadership and achievements.
