Dharamshala — According to local sources, after the removal of a final 250 nuns on April 6th, the forced removals of monks and nuns from Sichuan Province’s Larung Gar are now complete.

Dharamshala – A young Tibetan monk who set himself on fire in protest against Chinese rule, while calling for freedom in Tibet and His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s return to Tibet, was released from prison last month with one of his legs amputated.

Dharamshala — A senior Tibetan Buddhist monk, who was also chant master of Tsennyi Monastery in Amchok township, north-eastern Tibet, was released after completing nine-year prison sentence, for allegedly involving in widespread peaceful protests in 2008.

Dharamshala — American freedom watchdog, Human Rights Watch released a statement on March 29th urging Chinese authorities to halt the expulsion and political re-education of monks and nuns from a major Tibetan religious institution. According to information from an abbot of the institution, Chinese officials announced days ago that 3,225 homes at Larung Gar, the world’s largest Tibetan Buddhist institution, would be torn down by April 30.

Dharamshala — According to sources in the area, following the March 18th self-immolation in Sichuan province's Kardze county almost two hundred local Tibetans have allegedly been taken in to custody. 

Dharamshala — In reports coming out of Tibet, a young Tibetan man set himself on fire Saturday in the Kham region of eastern Tibet in continued protest against China's occupation of Tibet.
