12april201003Dharamshala: An article published earlier today in China Daily, the Chinese government-mandated news source, stated that Lhasa's "rebuilding project" would be completed in May.

According to state controlled news agency Xinhua, the project is being implemented in three stages, the first stage having started in October 2009. Over the course of all three stages, the project allegedly aims to rebuild 22 main streets around the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. The rebuilding will be done in traditional Tibetan style. The first stage is expected to rebuild 7 of the 22 streets, at a cost of 8 million US dollars.

According to the article, so-called "Tibetan costumes" will be displayed around Lhasa's main street as part of the first stage of rebuilding.
