Tibet-India-Bylakuppe-2016-0909Dharamshala — The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama Wednesday left for the US where he will be for a month for his prostrate treatment, although the Tibetan leader said he has no specific health complaints.

A statement by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama said, "The Dalai Lama is departing Dharamshala today for the United States where he is scheduled to undergo prostate treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a period of rest from the end of January 2016 for approximately one month."

"His regular engagement schedule will resume in March," the statement said.

Dr Lobsang Sangay, Sikyong or the political leader of Tibetans and other top officials of the Central Tibetan Administration bid adieu to the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate at the Kangra airport in Dharamshala.

Replying to the media queries, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said there was no major health issue, but he was having problem in the right eye.

"You can touch my face and see there's no problem," he said in a lighter vein, adding that he had been going to Mayo Clinic for regular health evaluation and doctors there had advised him for precautions in certain things.

"I would probably return in the second week of March," he said. He is also scheduled to attend a scientists' meet at Wisconsin University. In September last year, the Tibetan spiritual leader had cancelled his programme to the US after doctors at Mayo Clinic advised him rest.
