Dharamshala — Tibetan prime minister and Parliament Deputy Speaker condoled the demise of US Congressman Benjamin Gilman. Congressman Benjamin Gilman, a friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a long-time supporter of Tibet and Tibetan people. Mr Gilman, 94, passed away in Wappingers Falls, N.Y, US, on December 17, 2016.

Mundgod — For the first time in the history of Tibetan Buddhism, twenty Tibetan nuns have been awarded the Geshema degree, the highest academic title in Tibetan Buddhism. The degree was conferred yesterday morning by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at a ceremony to honor the nun's achievments at Drepung Monastery in Mundgod, South India.
