Geneva Switzerland — A group of UN human rights experts on Wednesday has condemned the detention in Tibet of a rights activist who promoted the Tibetan language, and called for charges against him to be dropped. and called upon China to release him "immediately".

Tokyo, Japan — "As China got away from Tibet, today it is thinking that it can away with South China Sea, East China Sea, Senkaku Islands and Doklam region," President Dr Lobsang Sangay Wednesday told a group of nearly 100 Japanese parliamentarians from the All Party Japanese Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet, which is world's largest parliamentary support group for Tibet.

As China prepares to celebrate its New Year, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) points out that more than 50 journalists and bloggers are currently imprisoned and that, from the Year of the Snake (2013) to the Year of the Dog (2018), President Xi Jinping has built his authority on the ruins of the freedom to inform.

Dharamshala — South Africa has been under fire from China the past week, as the country welcomed Tibetan President Dr Lobsang Sangay. However, despite pressure from China and protests staged within the country, South Africa has refused to stand down and instead welcomed the Tibetan President.

Dharamshala — “Tibetans have and will always admire the South African spirit and we are convinced that if South Africa can do it, then Tibetans can do it too," President Dr Lobsang Sangay said during his first trip to South Africa, despite China's protests.
